About the App

Jul 03, 2017 Skype now tells me that 'We've signed you out because you're using an outdated version of Skype. Download the latest version' - which of course does not run on Snow Leopard. You still get directed to download the proper 6.15 version for Mac OS X 10.6.8 but it does not work! This simple tutorial shows you the step-by-step process on how to download and install Skype on Mac OSX Snow Leopard.
- App name: Skype
- App description: skype (App: Skype.app)
- App website: http://www.skype.com
Install the App
- Press
Command+Space
and type Terminal and press enter/return key. - Run in Terminal app:
ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null
and press enter/return key.
If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish. - Run:
brew cask install skype

Done! You can now use Skype.

A new version of Skype is available for Mac OS X users. Delivering improvements and enhanced compatibility with Snow Leopard, Skype version 2.8.0.722 also adds screen sharing (share what you’re.
For reference, Apple's OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard requires only that a Mac have an Intel processor to run, meaning machines that are absolutely unable to run Skype under the new policy are some eight. As of today July 11, 2017, can no longer sign into Skype using v6.15 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Says '.because you're using an outdated version.' Yet I was able to sign in back in late May 2017 (the last time I tried).
